We help electricians get the right insurance for their business, whether you're rewiring homes, fitting out offices, or doing strata maintenance.

Most electricians can get cover through a standard business pack. But the details matter. Your residential to commercial split, the height of buildings you work on, and whether you're doing maintenance or new builds all affect how insurers price your cover. We make sure you're getting a policy that actually matches what you do.

RISK ARCHITECTURE

What we cover

Business packs for electricians typically include public liability, tools and equipment cover, and the option to add professional indemnity if you're doing design work or issuing compliance certificates.

Public liability covers you if your work causes injury or property damage.

Professional indemnity covers you for mistakes in advice, design, or certification.

Tools of trade cover protects your gear if it's stolen from a locked vehicle or damaged in an accident.

If you run work vehicles, we can include those in the pack or arrange separate commercial motor cover.

We work with insurers like Vero, CGU, Allianz, QBE, and Zurich to find cover that fits your business.

Why the details matter

Insurers price electrical work differently depending on what you do. Residential maintenance is rated differently to commercial fit-outs. Working on low-rise homes is different to working on partially completed high-rise buildings.

We recently placed cover for an electrical contractor in Sydney doing 80% residential and 20% commercial work. They handled strata maintenance, renovations, and new builds. Their previous broker hadn't asked about the activity split, so when they needed to claim after someone hit their work vehicle, the insurer questioned whether the policy matched what they actually did. We restructured their cover and moved them to a business pack that covered everything properly.

We make sure you're getting a policy that actually matches what you do.

Service Excellence

Why electricians come to us

You get a small team of brokers who understand your industry. No call centres. No waiting on hold. When you need to update your policy or make a claim, you speak to the same person who set up your cover.

Most of our electrician clients come through word of mouth. They want a broker who returns calls and knows the difference between residential rewiring and commercial data cabling.

KNOWLEDGE BASE

Frequently asked questions

Yes, through tools of trade cover. This typically covers theft from a securely locked vehicle or toolbox, and damage from a motor vehicle accident. If you have individual items worth more than $2,500, let us know as these may need to be listed separately.
If you issue compliance certificates, do design work, or provide electrical engineering advice, yes. Standard trade work where you're following plans doesn't usually require it. But if you're making design decisions or certifying work, professional indemnity protects you if something goes wrong.
That's fine. Insurers just need to know the split. An 80/20 residential to commercial split is rated differently to 50/50. Be honest about what you do, because if you claim for commercial work but told the insurer you only do residential, they can decline the claim.
Yes. Working on completed low-rise homes is different risk to working on partially completed mid-rise or high-rise buildings. Insurers price this differently, and some won't cover high-rise work at all. We work with insurers who understand electrical contractors work across different building types.
Solar installation is separate to general electrical work and requires different cover. We can help with this, but it's priced separately due to the roof work and height risks involved.
